Etherow Country Park - Long Round - 3.5 Miles
- Car Park on George Street
- 383 / 384 bus routes pass Etherow Country Park. at least one every half hour on weekdays. Less frequent in the evenings and on Sunday.
Facilities:
Public toilets at start/finish.
(Note that the toilet block near the weir are closed and unlikely to reopen)
Visitor Center has a good cafe with pot of tea costing under 2 pounds, and sandwiches, soup, ice cream etc on the daily menu.
This route starts off gently with good surfaces under foot. S The second half (walking clockwise) has short steep descends on surfaces that can be muddy.
Be careful around Keg Pool - the area around can flood in heavy rain. In the nesting season swans may be very defensive of their nests, blocking the narrow path.
