Start at top of Lake, then head up to Echo. Take Castle Canyon to Inspiration, then up to Mt Lowe on the east trail. Note there is a large down tree - you can see where I back-tracked on the map. You can head straight up the ridge (go up vs to the left on the trail), just after you get on the trail - it's where the mountain bikers drop down. Once you summit, take the west trail down until you see the Santa Monica lookout pipe, then head straight over the rock cropping, and all the way down to the fire road. It's about a .25 mile to the Tom Sloane intersection - you can't miss the sign. Go all the way across the clearing, then you'll see a cairn, and the trail heading down. The saddle is only 1.2 miles, where you will hit the 4-way junction. To the right is Bear Canyon, straight/left is Dawn Mine, and a sharp left will take you back up to the fire road - they're all well marked, so there should be no confusion. Take the one that says Mt Lowe 2 miles, which drops you just north

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
