About the Calorie Calculator

The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

About
Die Strecke beginnt am Bootshaus am Kurpark in Bad Hersfeld.
Es geht der Beschilderung des Radweges R12 folgend zunächst über die Fußgänger- und Radfahrerbrücke über die Fulda zum Fuldasee. Weiter dann hinter dem Werksgelände von Libri an das Flüsschen Haune heran. Dem Verlauf der Haune folgend führt der Radweg sehr schön flach meist auf Feldwegen, teils auf kaum befahrenen Nebenstraßen bis nach Haunetal-Neukirchen. Einzige "nennenswerte" Steigungen auf der Strecke sind zwei Brücken über die Bahnstrecke.
Kurz vor Neukirchen verlässt man den Radweg R12 und fährt zunächst auf dem R12.1 nach Neukirchen hinein, um dann auch von dieser Variante nach links in die Stoppeler Straße abzubiegen; kurz darauf findet man dann den ersten kleinen Wegweiser zur Burg; er zeigt in die Bug-Hauneck-Straße...
In Neukirchen kann man bis in die Burg-Hauneck-Straße noch gut mit dem Fahrrad fahren. Nach Unterquerung der Bundestraße 27 beginnt dann der Aufstieg zur Burgruine Hauneck. Der kürzeste Weg zur Burg hinauf ist sehr steil und teils nur schmaler Wanderpfad, sodass es sich anbietet, nach Unterquerung der Bundesstraße am Beginn der Steigung die Fahrräder abzuschließen und das Picknick-Gepäck auf den Rücken zu schnallen.
Von dort kann man nun auf einem Fußweg zur Burgruine Hauneck empor steigen.
