Eschwege - Bad Hersfeld: Von Der Werra Zur Fulda
Die Strecke verläuft zunächst auf dem Fernradweg R5, der sich nicht - was relativ untypisch ist - nicht an den regionalen Hauptverkehrswegen bzw. einem Flusstal orientiert, sondern quer dazu durch Waldhessen führt.
So verläuft der Radweg zunächst von Eschwege aus über eine Anhöhe nach Reichensachsen. Weniger konditionierte Radfahrer könnten diesen Anstieg umgehen, indem sie von Eschwege aus zunächst in westlicher Richtung nach Niederhone fahren und dort der B27 folgend nach Reichensachsen radeln. Allerdings fährt man dann nah an der viel befahrenen Bundestraße und verpasst die schönen Ausblicke, die der originäre Radweg R5 zwischen Eschwege und Reichensachsen bietet; hier sieht man zum Beispiel auch weit in das Wehretal bzw. Sontratal hinein, dem man ab Reichensachen für längere Zeit folgen wird.
Mit Reichensachsen durchfährt man ein sehr schönes größeres Dorf mit liebevoll in Stand gehaltenen Fachwerkhäusern und einem reizvollen Ortsbild. Auch auf dem weiteren Weg entlang ds Radweges R5 kommt man immer wieder durch "Perlen Waldhessens", wie es zum Beispiel am Ortseingang von Rockensüß zu lesen ist. Fachwerkhäuser abseits von den Hauptverkehrswegen, liebevoll restaurierte Kirchen, hier und da "Radlertankstellen".
Kurze Zeit verläuft der Radweg R5 auf identischer Strecke mit dem Herkules-Wartburg-Radweg. Auch einer der Radwege, die sich nicht an Straßen und Flüssen orientieren...
