Yes, thank you for clarifying that Mark – I have been turning Auto-Plot off to traverse issue areas up until now.

Now however, partly from frustration, and partly from the wish to give back, I have decided to put my OSM editing account to good use. Where simple map elements, like joining path segments, are missing from the source mapping, it is reasonably straighforward to make the required changes to add or modify map elements. Tip 37 How To Correct Map Errors makes this reasonably clear, and works well in many cases. I have managed to rectify some mapping that should make Auto-Plot work just fine when the mapping is next updated.

I have raised this post linked to that tip because, in the case of this car park, I do not believe the underlying OSM features to be erroneous . I guess this is more of a feature request than an issue per say. Should I try to move this post into a different board?

    Art MG,

I assume you know this, but maybe for others ... isn't it just simple enough to turn Auto-Plot off and select the footpath of interest then turn Auto-Plot back on.

Thank you for adding Car Parks from the OSM source. Would it be possible for them to be used for Auto-Plot access?

Here is an example of a walkers car park, with a number of footpaths terminating on its edges. It is marked Access = Yes, although Public is another possible option. This is because it is an Area feature rather than a Line feature, so it does not have the usual Allowed Access box for paths. I suspect that this is the reason why I cannot Auto-Plot across or via this feature.

Some car parks do have footpaths or roadways drawn through them in the OSM source, but in this example that would make no sense, as there are too many possible alternatives. Would it be possible to use the Access designation across this whole Area feature in the Auto-Plot routing calculations?
