About this Challenge

Photo

Distance Horse Travel (DHT) trip. Distance: 150 miles, 16,000 feet ascent/descent. Ten days. 9th – 18th July 2018.

Queen Victoria writes in her Highland Journal of trips on horseback around the Cairngorms (Scotland, UK) with servants John Stuart and John Brown between 1859 and 1862. Her adventurous spirit, love of the mountains, and interest in the people inspired me to plan a complete round of the Cairngorms in July 2018, taking in some challenging routes and wild places she had visited. While I had previously travelled sections of the route, I wanted to combine her trips into a 10-day DHT (distance horse travel) adventure.

Fundraiser for BROOKE - "We EDUCATE and EMPOWER communities to better CARE for their working donkeys and horses" (link to donate).
