Hello i just found out that there is a membership fee per year but like to add if private routes can be change to ulimited for free? Why? They are other software and apps where you can plan routes and keep it private and not show it too every one. Even geo tagging and adding pictures.

Also 22US a year is expensive and would be better if there is a one time fee so hope this can be changed.  Because I only use it for adding routes and if I can do it here then they are other online software that can do this for me free! :)

But I think a one time paypment for additional feature is good then having it each year or if new upgrades are plan then be glad to pay. Thanks!

We'd love to be able to make the website available for free to everyone without limits, but unfortunately there are big costs to running a complex website like this. When you share a route publicly, this can help to generate advertising income but private routes don't, so that's why we have limits on the number of these.

We wouldn't be able to move to a charging model based on a one-off lifetime fee, as the costs of running the website are not one-off, so we need a model with recurring income.

I do appreciate that there are other options out there and we are always aware that everyone has a choice, but we are working hard to try to deliver an excellent product at a fair price.  I know for example, that many similar websites charge a fee per month for Premium membership, whereas our Premium membership fee covers a whole year.  Ultimately we appreciate that it's an individual choice though as to whether you feel it is good value for money.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    John

Thank you but do you know why there need to be a yealy subscription for private routes? Cause can't you do what other smaller website have done and made pirvate routes for free? Like for storage can you use a free cloud service to do this? As i wonder why others can?

For example map my rides have it free or perhaps if storage is an issue then the routes could be stored locally or if the user chooses a storage place for it then it can be ulimited? Would you consider this? But mapmyrides have routes that are private and public.

I can't edit my post so thanks if you can put this so post can be edited thanks!

And with ads perhaps users can allow ads to be generated too in private routes?

I'm not sure there's much else I can add to my my earlier post.  I'm sorry to disappoint you but I'm afraid we're unable to offer unlimited Private routes for free based on advertising revenues alone.

Thank you but before you had payment you could do so and so like to know what changed? You can put ads also for funding so why not do this? Since mapmyride and other has this basic function. Even andriods have apps where you can store your data so why not yours?

Just have free users with ads like you did before you started the premium payments and for those who want no free ads they can pay cause you want to attract more attention to use your software and if others can offer for free and more then no one would use your app.

mapmyride can offer everything you can and other free online routes can do the same so hope there can be some change to this.

So if it is ads that allow that for free users and ads could be based on what the user like too! Gmail has this! :)

I don't find mapmyride very annoying with ads. :)

As I mentioned below, I'm afraid we're unable to offer unlimited Private routes for free based on advertising revenues alone, as this doesn't cover our costs.  Our costs are much higher than in the past, as we now exceed the free quotas offered by a number of the third party service providers that we use.  Many have also raised their prices, which has increased our own costs.  I can't comment on the other organisations you mention, as they have very different sources of funding.  If you feel that other products are better suited for you though, we understand that different solutions work for different people.

Thank you for explaining could you somehow make it possible so users can link their storage to something of their choice to help so you dont run out of quota? Cause again its good to be competative when other route planner are offering the same thing and more. So I hope optional online storage that users can use could be somehow an option? Thanks!

I think the yearly fee is good value and having explored other sites extensively presently I feel Plot a Route is one of the best, if not the best.  Its the first Mapping software I have been prepared to pay for the additional features.
