Just echoing Rob's point from his post of 25/2/2019, "Great - what would be REALLY USEFUL is to be able to select a scale at which to produce pdf maps "

I used the multipage map print this week.  It is a very helpful feature but I found using the output 'in the field' quite confusing because the scales varied.  I had 4 pages.  Pages 1, 3, and 4 were printed at 1.75cm = 200m while page 2 was printed at 2.2cm =500m.  I'm not worried about the slightly odd scales. These are partly subject to the way I chose to print the PDF.  However, swapping from one scale to another was very disorientating.  Suddenly I was walking at half the speed (or approxiamtely so... I still can't quite work it out)!

When producing the PDF, I had checked the first map to see that it had the level of detail I needed so map 2, with its deminished detail, came as a bit of a surproise when I got to it during the walk.

With Rob, I would feel more comfortable if I could select the scale and let Plotaroute determine how many pages are needed.

Sorry Carolyn, that isn't possible when printing a route, but if it's the elevation profile you're interested in, there are additional options on the Route Profile page, including changing the Y axis to start to from lowest point on the route. Select "View elevation profile" from your My Routes page to go to the Route Profile page.

I am looking to print a route 500miles with a constant scale for elevation.  Other apps will change the scale from start to finish of each page.  I need the scale to go from the lowest point to the highest on each page.  Can plotaroute do this?  I have been trying to find some examples of the premium pdf output.

I'm afraid we don't support high definition printing.

If I want to print a high definition map on A1 or A0 paper format, how do I do that?

    Echoing...brilliant addition!

Brilliant with the scale marker addition

... and more haste, less speed with my not noticing the option to select the number of pages to create (I can make a rough calculation based on the distance to then specify the number of pages I want to have in the pdf.)

Hi Rob - we've now added a scale guide to printed maps. Thanks for suggesting this.

Hi Rob - Adding an option to be able choose a scale for printed maps would be a significant development project, so that's not something we could do easily. Currently the zoom level is chosen to fit the maps on the page.  If you select Multi-Page printing it will select the appropriate zoom level for each page based on the section of the route being shown.  The system doesn't decide on the number of pages though - this is something that you specify when select the print options (in the field just to the right of the Multi-Page button).

Ah - sorry - supplementary question ... how does the system decide on how many pages to make a "multi-page" pdf ?  I assume it's subject to the length of the route, but that then must mean there is a scale (albeit not published)?
