Thanks for this Mark.  As per per our email exchange we could possibly look at adding an option to specify the title of the route when downloading to a GPS file. Would anyone else find this useful?

    Hi,

This moves the communication I've had from email to the Forum, as it might benefit others. ....

I create a route and download it …. no need to save it in My Routes. I name it when saving to my PC and load it into my Garmin Touring GPS. It appears as “Unnamed Route”.

However, I created and downloaded 3 different routes, named 1, 2 and 3 on my pc, then copied them to the Garmin. Only one appears on the device, named “Unnamed Route”, as the Garmin does not support routes with the same internal name. As all 3 are "Unnamed Route", it will actually only load one file.

The <name> tags in the downloaded gpx and tcx files can be edited in Notepad, but can this be done in plotaroute as part of the download process?

Even if the routes were saved first, the long name is truncated and may well give the same issue (multiples file with the same "internal" name).

    Thanks,

    Mark
