Shame as I really think it would improve route plotting accuracy.

Temporarily changing the transparency setting is the best way to see the map details underneath the route line. I'm afraid it wouldn't be a simple thing for us to alter the route planners to add more buttons.

Actually I just tried reducing route transparency in settings and it really doesn't help.  Off route/on route button...... sorted!  ;-)

PS.  I realise you can drill down to a much larger scale and the road will be revealed underneath the line but this is very slow and time consuming.  Also it doesn't always clarify if it is a small road or a very small road.

An even better alternative might be to temporarily turn the route line from the present dark opaque colour to a very light, transparent colour??

It would be very useful to be able to 'switch off' a route, or section of route you are working with.  For example if you upload a route its very difficult to know what standard of road  the route is following.

If you could simply briefly remove the layer of the map that is the route then you could see what the road is  (Motorway or nice 'C' road for example).

Then having confirmed its suitable or not you can replot accordingly.

Would this be a simple matter?
