Navigation - departure from and back to route not acknowledged

The app uses both your position and heading to determine if you are off-route, so you'll need to be close enough to the route and also heading in the direction on the route at that point. If you have the heading source set to "Device" in the navigation settings, your heading will be determined from the direction your device is pointing, otherwise it is determined from your GPS, so you'll need to move a short distance in the correct direction for it to determine your heading. This is just a warning though, so check the map and if you're happy you're going the right way you can ignore it.

Deviated from route to have a cuppa in national trust tea shop. Rejoined the route and continued on it to be told I was off route. (I had missed a little of the route I didn't need to cover...about 200 yards)
I logged out and dismissed the tab within the window to make sure I was completely unplugged. having logged back in, announced it was 'navigating route' it told me I was off route.
I thought as soon as it guides me through a navigation turn it will reset. Nope,
