    It now works perfectly.  Nice job.

    This has ben done now.  Any directions/notes will now be written to both the <cmt> and <desc> tags.

    Hi John,

    I'm currently using a CMS plugin which looks for the <desc> tag as opposed to the <cmt> tag when looking for the full text description of the waypoint, hence it is currently blank at the moment.  I wonder if adding both tags would be a solution.

    Hi Leigh - The waypoint 'name' tag uses the first 10 characters (maximum allowed by the GPX spec) of any Directions/Notes you add.  The full text of the Directions/Notes is however available under the 'cmt' tag, so if you want to add a full description for your waypoint this should appear in the cmt tag when you download it as a GPX file.

    Is there some reason why you would like this under the 'description' tag rather than the 'cmt' tag?  I must admint, the GPX spec is not clear which of these two tags should be used for additional waypoint informaton and I'm aware that some applications write additional text to both the 'cmt' and 'description' tags.

    It would be nice to include <desc>description</desc> within the waypoint markup.

    Example:

    <wpt lat="53.2974144" lon="-1.6137242">

    <time>2014-09-16T17:43:13Z</time>

    <name>Pub Stop</name>

    <cmt>Pub Stop</cmt>

    <desc>This is a description of the pub</desc>

    <sym>Flag, Blue</sym>

    </wpt>
