Approx 8k.

Woodland, with a couple of fields, some hard tracks and minimal road work.

Generally ok all year round, with one field area that can get churned up if cattle have been in there.

Some steep tracks, generally hilly.

Several gates and river crossings.

May be livestock en-route.

Park in Exmoor Farmers Market at Wheddon Cross - TA24 7DT (on the large gravel area, not the concrete) on Sunday 19th September 2021 and Sunday 26th September 2021.

Wheddon Cross has a petrol station with shop and local pub – The Rest and be Thankful Inn.

From the car park go through the gate and turn right.

Follow track for a short while and take a left hand track between some trees that will bring you out by a cattle grid.

Go through the bridleway gate next to the grid and follow the drive until you see the next bridleway sign on your right.

Follow this bridleway down and through one gate until you get to a lane.

Cross straight over the lane and go through the bridleway gate ahead.

Follow track, until you meet another gate. Go through this and carry straight on.

You will follow the river past the short section of fencing on the right.

Keep going straight and at the fork take the bridleway bearing to the right over the river.

Follow this bridleway until the next gate, go through and keep straight ahead. You will go through another river crossing.

After this bear around to left and head up the steep stoney track.

When you reach the field, you will be heading towards the left into the next field. In here follow the track along the hedge line on the right, eventually you will come to a small wooden gate on the right .

Once through the gate, go straight up the field (this is the area that can get churned up by cattle) and then bear around to the left along the tractor tracks.

Follow this track all the way along until you come to a metal gate (taking you out to Dunkery Gate).

Follow this to the parking area and head left over the bridge, then through the gate next to the cattle grid.

Carry on down this road until you see the Restricted Byway sign on your right (signed to Luckwell Bridge).

Follow this track to the lane and carry on straight over.

Continue on this track all the way down to the main road.

Cross the road (beware of traffic here).

Go over the little bridge and take the bridleway to the left next to the river (signed to Wheddon Cross).

Follow this bridleway through the next two gates and into the field. Head down the field (keep to the left) and you will come to a small river crossing.

Go through the gate here and then the gate ahead into the woodland track.

Follow the track all the way up until you get to the sports field.

At the pavilion turn left and head into Bouverie Close (where the bungalows are).

Follow through until main road and turn left, you will see the Farmers Market down the road on the right.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
