The complete Icknield Way Path follows the ancient Icknield Way as closely as possible and links two National Trails, the Ridgeway and the Peddars Way & Norfolk Coast Path.

Start point: Ivinghoe Beacon, Bucks
1/4 point: Deacon Hill, Beds (28.5 miles)
Halfway point: Chrishall, Essex (57 miles)
3/4 point: Ashley, Cambs (85.5 miles)
End point: Knettishall Heath, Suffolk (114 miles)

Alternative routes are possible in the Bedfordshire area: via Toddington or via Fancott (the Fancott option reduces the distance by 1 mile).

See https://www.icknieldwaypath.co.uk/ for path updates and official guidebook.

The Peddars Way runs for 46 miles from Knettishall Heath to Holme-next-the-Sea, where it meets the Norfolk Coast Path.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
