From the car park the walk goes through the memorial wood to join the Longdendale Trail along Torside and Rhodeswood reservoirs. The route then goes along the embankment and up to the Woodhead Road and cross over to start the ascent up to what was Crowden quarry. From there it continues the climb across moorland to Lad’s Leap and then downwards towards Crowden, picking up the Pennine Trail, to cross the Woodhead Road and into the woods to Torside reservoir to retrace the track and rejoin the Longdendale Trail and return to the car park.

This is a hard walk, the ascent to Lads Leap is 1.65 miles of continuous climb of around 835 feet. Visibility on the hill can be limited in poor conditions so care must be taken if the weather is poor.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
