TotY2023 - Denman Island - #3

This loop is 22kms long and is a nice cycle on Denman Island. Start from the ferry terminal, It may be best to let the ferry traffic get ahead of you. The rush to Hornby Island can seem like a car race. Head up the hill - it's a bit of a grind straight off the ferry! There is a gravel community trail which parallels Denman Road, it finishes at Corrigal Road, after which the East Road gets you to Tree #3. This road can get busy with ferry vehicle traffic. It is worth going into Boyle Point Provincial Park, where the lighthouse on Chrome Island can be seen. Please note that bicycles are not allowed on these trails. The return is along the more quiet stretch of road on Denman Island - not as much ferry traffic - and this can be used instead of East Road on the way to the tree. There is quite a bit to do on Denman Island, so look up the information brochures and enjoy.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
