This one is really aimed at winter rides and therefore the better lanes & a few bits of B road not normally ridden, because there good after very heavy rain And usually not bad from farmers perspective either.
The route is deliberately engineered to be very favourable for north / N west winds.
So, the start until Malpas is virtually tail winds and pretty flat. After Malpas we start hitting cross headwinds & uphill ( the worst section from Malpas to Hampton Heath) after this is is uphill, but with hedge row protection, especially around Bickerton & Jarthill, then cross tailwind from Tattenhall to Beaston . Then it’s steady uphill from Beaston, but along the Peckforton ridge line with total cover from NW wind, which to be fair carry’s on through to Harthill and then down hill into Tattenhall.

Note at Hampton Heath we cross the A41 at the roundabout ( Forts of India) that we never normally do, but after very heavy rain and farming season, this cuts out the usual lanes as they can be bad.
There are several awful bits of lane around this route , so don’t be tempted to take what looks like a logical short cut , there is a reason for this plot.

This route also allows an easy cop out if the weather is really tough going / cold etc because , after 19 miles I can simply ride straight on into Tattenhall & home instead of taking the 2nd 10 mile loop around Beaston.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
