This is not a scenic route - I'm just trying to cover 12.5 miles. Turn right out of Elm Drive and continue past the Harvester and the roundabout after Batchwood (3 miles) and up to King Harry Lane/ Harpenden Road roundabout. Turn left and continue past Waitrose to the King Harry roundabout (4.6 miles), turn left and head down St Stephen's Hill, past the Abbey train station and up HolyWell Hill (past the Cathedral) to the Pea Hen pub / junction with London Road (5.3 miles), turn right onto London Road and continue past Drakes Drive 6.7 miles and turn left at the first big roundabout (onto Highfield Park Drive) and go past Nuffield Gym (7.28 miles) and continue to Highfield Lane (past the Spar) 8 miles, continue along Hill End Lane until the mini roundabout with Colney Heath Lane - turn left here and you will quickly arrive at Hatfield Road. Turn left and go past the Speckled Hen (8.9 miles). Cross at the double mini roundabout (junction with Beechwood Avenue) and join Beaumont Avenue. Continue down to the end where it meets Sandpit Lane (9.8 miles), turn right on to Sandpit Lane and across the lights and turn left at Barnfield Road and up to the Ridgeway. Turn right at the Ridgeway and continue until you get to Sherwood Avenue (11.3m). Turn left at Sherwood Avenue and back to the Quadrant shopping area (11.7m). Turn left at the Quadrant and back along Beechwood Avenue to Elm Drive (12.5)

CALCULATE CALORIES
Find out how we calculate Calories

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
