A little short for a long walk but there are some steep climbs. From the start the walks ascends via White Brow and William Clough from 300 to 500m. to join the Pennine Way. It then turns east along the paved Way climbing up to 600 m. onto the Kinder Plateau (3 miles) and follows the level path for 3.5 miles, passing Kinder Downfall, to reach Edale Rocks. The original plan was to turn west leaving the Pennine Way and descend steeply, some on steps, to Tunstead Farm before reaching the Start (3 miles). Basically steep UP, level along and steeply down, about one third each. Due to a slight mix up the route walked included a loop around Jacobs Ladder that meant a near 11 mile walk. It can be easily shortened as can be seen from the map to the originally planned 9 miles.
