CONDITIONS 9/10
- Race day: Sunday, 11 August 2019 (Fri -Long weekend)
-Conditions: Cloudy, 11-23deg, No wind, perfect. Cool at start.
HILLS 7/10
- Long gradual (not easy) climbs and downs
- Long not steep / not gentle downhill to finish grounds
- about 2 short flat sections on whole race
- Difficulty (10 being steepest overall): 7/10 - Its just hills (but not killer) everywhere
CONGESTION - 5/10 (10 being 2Oceans)
- 5:45am good time to arrive for 7:30 start.
- +- 7000 entrants for 10k & 21k
- No seeding, walking and some shoving at start
-10k same start time and location as 21k
-Downhill start + first 1km gives a fast start, cuts congestion.
MARSHALS 7/10
-marshals not located everywhere but in most spots
-JMPD at *most busy intersections
- marshals stopped faster runners at busy intersections :(
ON ROUTE 6/10
- Km marker boards too small, not all visible with large crowds
- Water tables with music
- (Could be mistaken) water table sections just a bit too short in length?
- Good litter bins at tables
- A red gazebo table: only oranges no water or coke
- festive atmosphere at grounds
- Medal design, meh=4/10. Part of Discovery series, expected a better design. top marks if this was 1990's
-Goodies - Red gym towel at number collection, meh 4/10-useful but forgettable
- Parking on streets -Carguards charge R20-R50. Are they official? They have official looking bibs. Old Eds why do you force us to pay so much money to park on the streets? 1/10 :(
-Toilets plenty
NUMBER COLLECTION: 4/10 overall
opening times 2/10, ease at collection 8/10
Thurs 2pm -4pm
(they are avoiding the lunch time and after work rush - very inconvenient)
Friday 2pm - 4pm public holiday
(squeeze a few in)
Saturday 10am-6pm
(Make a big rush of it on a normally busy Saturday because most people couldn't collect Thursday and Friday)
Sunday 5:30am-7:00pm
