This is aimed specifically at a winter Gran Fondo route, not to flat, but not hilly! (100k/ 63miles. - note the route displays as 59 miles because it stops at Holt as opposed to Lavister however it is 64 miles) And as scenic as I could with out Steap hills but covering some of the best roads and also avoiding the worst mucky/ flooding roads.
This route also takes in as many possible cafes options. So it could be done with a traditional 1 stop or 2, as there are at least 6 cafe’s. ( Cleopatra’s- Alison’s- Firestation -Rose farm- Manley Mere- Blue bell- Walk mill- Lillies(Aldford)
It also takes in some of the best scenic areas.
This winter 2019/20 has been horrendous for rain, everywhere is flooded, so it is tricky to find a route that avoids all that. This one just about does it.

NOTE a better version of this route, due to more scenery and climbs with a mid point cafe ( ideal for summer Gran Fopndo) is via Delamere forest cafe, gaining access via the forest track, which is on the bend at the bottom of the fast descent and after what I call the roman climb, over the A51?
The usual road approach is crap -fast busy traffic and 2 major roads to cross. The forest track is fine for normal road bikes in summer. need a gravel bike in winter with bigger tyres.
the Delamere forest cafe option would push the total assent above 3000ft, maybe 3300.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
