Candlebark Park, Pettys Orchard And Yarra Trail

The walk is mainly alongside the historic Pettys Orchard, along mountain bike trails in Candlebark Park and along parts of the Main (River) Yarra Trail. The total distance is approximately 7.8 kms and covers a variety of terrain and scenery with some pleasant views of the Pettys Orchard and its surrounding countryside along the way. The walk is relatively flat and gentle for much of its length with three short but relatively easy ascents near the beginning/

There are a number of interesting points of general and historical interest along the walk including the revamped Canoe Slalom viewing area on the Yarra River, the relocated River (aka) Apple Peel sculpture, indigenous Candlebark trees native to the area, the heritage-listed 'The Barn' building, the 110 year old Pettys Orchard with its heritage-listed apple varieties and the 100 year old heritage listed 'Worlingworth' property on the banks of the Yarra River.

The meeting point and parking at the start of the walk is the car park on the east side of Fitzsimons Lane next to the bridge on the south bank of the Yarra River. The car park is accessible from either side of Fitzsimons Lane (south of the bridge) by an access lane (Kiwanis Lane).
