You have the option to start from the Queen Elizabeth Country Park Visitor Centre as it has refreshments and toilet facilities. This however adds just over a mile and a lot of elevation as you climb the Butser Hill, which is the highest point throughout the South Downs.
If you do start from the Visitor Centre, please make sure to park infront of the visitor centre/immediate car park after the barrier as you enter. The other parking areas within the park are closed/blocked after certain time.
This trail almost entirely follows the South Downs Way path from Butser Hill to Winchester so the entire route is waymarked. This means you can just lookout for the wooden markers along the way that point you to the right direction to stay on track. The only bit this route goes off-course is at the Old Winchester Hill as we go through it.
