Dogs will need to be on lead for much of this walk due to sheep but a nice walk through fields, woodland and streams. Boggy in winter, can be boggy in summer months too through lower sections. Figure of 8 walk taking in the old Webster's Malt House which looks like a giant ski chalet. Webster's, established by Samuel Webster in 1838, was home to Webster's Yorkshire Bitter. It was bought by Courage Brewery in 1990 but they closed down the Halifax operation in 1996 and moving their operations to Berkshire. The roof of the Malt House is vented to allow the steam from the malting process to escape. Malting involves gently heating barley to produce different flavour profiles for beers and ales.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
