East Sands/Albany Park

Starting at the main gates to the Cathedral on South Street, make your way through the Pends and on down to the Harbour. Cross the small bridge to the beach front and make your way along the sands heading for the East Sands Leisure Centre. At the break in the road, turn up towards Lamond Drive (Albany Park and car park will be on your right). Once on St Mary's Street, continue back towards town. Cross at Woodburn Place and take the next right which brings you along the other side of the harbour via Balfour Place. Return the same route back up the Pends.

This is a relatively flat walk on pavement and road. Some of the pavement is cobbled in areas creating an uneven surface but is not treacherous. The pavement on the Pends is narrow in places - just be careful and be careful too when coming through the archway at the bottom of the Pends - this is a through road with parking on the road - just need to keep your wits about you.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
