This is a varied and challenging route that will you take through some stunning Shroposhire scenery. Climbing up through wooded hillsides and down into quite lonely valleys. As you pass along it's route you'll be come aware of the historic nature of Shropshire through the ages. Starting at the Shropshire Discovery Centre where you can "Meet the Mamouth" and after carefully crossing the A49, you quickly happen upon the 13th Century Stokesay Castle. After crossing the Manchester to Cardif main railway line and climbing up to Aldon, the route drops down passing closing the grand 19th Century stately house of Stokesay Court, it crosses the A49 one last time before finally climbing through Nortoncamp Wood to Shropshire's largest Iron AgeFort of Norton Camp and then decending steeply back down to Whettleton, crossing the River Onny and returning to the Discovery Centre

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
