Meet from 9:15 for a prompt 9:30 start at the bike racks opposite St John's Church, Burgess Hill. A gently undulating route but with quite a few firm off-road sections not suited to narrow racing tyres.

Outward route 20 miles via Hickstead, Shermanbury, Partridge Green, Downs Link south to Henfield, Bineham Bridge, Steyning to the King's Head, Upper Beeding for lunch.

Shorter return leg of 15 miles via Downs Link north to Henfield, Blackstone, Sayers Common back to Burgess Hill.

May need to bypass Steyning using its back streets due to 'The Steyning Vintage Revival' event taking place Sunday 7 May with the High Street fully closed.

After the rain on Coronation Saturday, better to avoid Frylands Lane and the bridlepath, rather take Sake Ride Lane down to the Woodmancote road and then back up to Shermanbury

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
