This is a cracking route, with all the best bits of lane, with most of my favourites in the south and includes a very stiff lengthy climb up from Higher Wych to Lower Wych. It’s all good and probably in my top 3 rides.
The only thing that lets this down is no cafe stop on route in the right place hence, kept to 33 miles.
However, can shorten it to 30, by going straight over Jarthill and not via Bickerton hill the longer way as shown.

Of course this one is also easy to turn into a bigger ride and cafe stop at Lost Barn, after 31 miles, by going straight over to Tilston , after Bickerton Hill.

The route really suites most wind directions die to the high hedgerows , nearly every where.

NOTE: if the weather has been really bad for a few days then it’s not wise to take the left turn at cross keys into Heathersrone lane, just after 21 miles, as it can get messy, especially further up in Fishers lane, which tends to flood a little and get very muddy.
Better to carry on through Grotsworth lane at Cross lanes cottage.
Likewise my favourite Bickerton hill can also be mucky in places, especially near the bottom, on the Brown knowl end of the lane. Therefore after heavy rain, it’s better to take Long lane, which runs almost parallel to Bickerton hill.
Likewise, it’s better to take Harthill, rather than the easier side hill ( Bolsworth Lane) which gets very mucky after bad weathe, due to a farm at both ends and cows crossing, near Harthill end.
Therefore turn right at the top of Brown knowl, outside the Iceland house & head down into Brown knowl and take the right fork to the Samderstone pub

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
