AK Cross Loop

Beginning at Thornbridge Hall, or indeed whereever else you want it to, this route leads you on a large loop through the northern White Peak, up into the Southern Dark Peak, giving a taste of variety of landscape that the Peak District has to offer.

From Thornbridge, head East towards Baslow before beginning a Northwards climb up onto the moors above Froggatt, remaining at a (relatively) steady altitude as you snake between Burbage and Houndkirk Moor until you reach the South Eastern reaches of Sheffield. Next you'll round Redmires reservoir and bearing East as you whizz down into Bamford. Make the most of the steady incline to Edale, as the steep climb via Mam Tor to Lords Seat will definitely leave your legs burning! Don't worry, the views from the top sure do make up for it. The descent back towards Thornbridge sure make the few last climbs a lot easier to stomach. Ideal for a big day out when you really fancy a challenge!

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
