Zipcar Route from Latimer Court, Hammersmith to Exhibition Road, South Kensington.

The city circuit is fairly straightforwards sticking to the main roads looping around Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens. There is no difference in time between cutting through the middle of Kensington Gardens and going around via Knightsbridge to rejoin Bayswater. At the moment there is construction work on S carriage Drive near Hyde Park Barracks which removes Knightsbridge from the route. Normally you can take this road which is faster by a few minutes. The return journey takes you through Bayswater road which connects to the A3220 ring-road. Follow the directions towards Shepherds Bush and take Wood Lane towards Acton. A left turn at the end of Scrubs Lane will take you to a Texaco. If you miss it you can go down the one way street Tubbs road and rejoin at Nightingale road.

However the road is really steep at the top of Nightingale road so you might stall and look like a twat if it's an unfamiliar vehicle. The Texaco carwash is very expensive (£8.00 for a manual outside car wash when you can get an automatic one on The Vale road for £3.50) and approximately 5-8 gentlemen wash it opening the trunk and doors without permission. I would not recommend placing valuable items in the vehicle for this car wash.

Take the high road through to Old Oak Common Lane and turn left onto Goldhawk Road. There's two mini roundabouts in quick succession so it's a bit grim through there. Turn right onto Hammersmith Grove and the circuit takes you back to the Hammersmith ring road. This journey including a car wash and refuelling took me 4 hours on a Sunday between 12:00-16:00. It should take 40minutes each way for the Hammersmith to Kensington to Acton route.

I would recommend taking a route away from the main roads where possible. This route was a bit slow but you get to see the Mclaren's at Mayfair if you're stuck in traffic.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
