Werraradweg Bad Hersfeld - Eisenach
Es geht von Bad Hersfeld (an der Fulda gelegen) zunächst über die Wasserscheide ins Werratal. Diesen Wechsel kann man an verschiedenen Stellen absolvieren. Diese Variante hier stellt einen Kompromiss zwischen in Kauf zu nehmendem Umweg und eingesparter Steigung dar: Der Weg über Friedewald wäre etwas kürzer aber steil; der Weg über Schenklengsfeld wäre sehr flach aber etwas länger.
Die hier gewählte Variante über Motzfeld ist auch landschaftlich interessant...
An der Werra angekommen geht es immer entlang dem Werra-Radweg bis nach Hörschel und von dort noch wenige Kilometer entlang der Hörsel nach Eisenach.
Unterwegs wechselt die Landschaft von einem relativ engen Werratal mit teils naturbelassener Werra-Aue bei Heringen über ein weites Tal rund um Gerstungen schließlich zu einem immer enger werdenden Tal bei Hörschel.
Teilweise verläuft der Radweg auf Schotter oder gar über Holzstege durch die Aue.
Bei Lauchröden kann man dem Werra-Radweg einfach wie beschildert folgen oder aber - wie hier - eine Parallelstrecke auf einer wenig befahrenen Landstraße nutzen und einen Abstecher zur Burgruine Brandenburg machen...
Bad Hersfeld und Eisenach sind gut per Zug erreichbar und auch untereinander regelmäßig mit Zügen verbunden...
