If the GPX file is opening successfuly in your apps when emailed I think the direct download problem is almost certainly an issue with Safari.  Glad you've got a solution for now though. 

Yes, GPX files are currently downloaded as "GPX Tracks" but we are adding an option to select "GPX Routes" format as an alternative in our next upgrade to the site, which will hopefully be coming along very soon.

Thanks for the reply.

I downloaded it to my Windows 8 laptop OK and then emailed it to myself.

I then opened the email and the gpx file opened both in Memory Map and GPX Navigator Apps.

It does still show as a Track rather than a 'Route' but I gather from other forum entries, you are working on this, as it shows incorrectly on my Garmin Dakota GPS.

I think this might be an iOS or Safari bug that we can't do anything about.  I think the file is being created sucessfully at our end and downloaded to your phone but the phone is struggling to open it for some reason.  Are you able to try downloading the file to your computer and emailing it to your phone to try to open it that way?

I have the same problem on my iphone, the Open In... shows momentarily and then the page goes blank.

I repeated the same download on my ipad and it works fine.

Hi Bruce - Des this happen with certain routes or at certain times of day?  I've tried this on an iPhone here but can't seem to recreate the problem. As it's on a phone it could just be down to a tempermental network connection.  If you can let me know a date and time when it happens again I can check the logs for additional information.

I select plotaroute's d'load option to download my route, GPX format. When it gets to the page where it would normally say 'Open in...' the page is sometimes just a plain gray screen ('Open in' is momentarily visible, then the screen goes gray). Sometimes it works properly but I can't determine why.

Using mobile Safari on IOS 8.2 in iPhone 6.
