Hi DeAnne - Sorry you've had some problems getting to grips with the site.  Firstly, I'm happy to point out that the site is free so there is no need to buy anything.

You can delete any of your routes from your home page after signing in - select the  "My Routes" tab on your home page, click the trash can symbol above the list then click the trash can symbol next to each route you want to delete.

It's hard to advise on the editing issues without seeing exactly whet you are doing.  I think the only thing I can suggest is to try editing smaller sections at a time (bring the green and red selection markers closer togther).  And maybe have another look at the tutorial video to see if there is anything you are doing differently?

I've replied separately to your other post about the problems printing directions.

I am having problems in editing routes. I ended up re-doing the 5k route because the editing just didn't work well. The red and green buttons at times did not budge although sometimes those buttons worked well. A few times when I tried to shorten the route (not going around the block), I followed the tutorial with the red and green buttons, stretching the midpoint to the point where I wanted it, but it overextended, going into the next block (too far).

On the 10k, towards the end of my map creation, when I tried to click even a teensy distance from the place where I was, around the 7.5k point, a long arrow shot out going in a direction diagonally across streets, buildings, and anything else. I tried over and over to get this right, finally just saving the route and calling it a night. This morning, I went at it again and it worked fine. Maybe the program got tired?

I cannot get more than a few directions printed, either. In trying to route 5k and 10k walks through a small town, it is necessary to go around blocks and so there will be a long list of written directions to follow.

Because I re-did some routes, I now have some I would like to delete. I figured out how to delete them yesterday and deleted a couple 5ks, but I cannot find where to go today in order to delete the extra 10ks.

I like Plotaroute in many ways, especially the ease in routing a walking trail. However, I have had a lot of trouble editing and deleting and if I cannot figure out how to handle these matters, I cannot buy your program. Please advise. Thank you!

    Hi John,

Thanks for the quick response.  You're right.  I tried it today and it worked fine.  I'll give you a shout if I hit the problem again though.

    Keep up the good work!

    Cheers,

    Matt

Hi Matt - I can't seem to be able to reproduce the problem, can you give me a bit more information please?  I tried importing the route from the link you gave as a GPX file and was able to move the start and end points with the Auto-Plot switch turned on without a problem.  Can you let me know what map type you are using and also what you have the Auto-Plot switch set to?  Also, can you explain the steps to recreate the problem please?

    Thanks,

    John

I did some more experimentation.  It doesn't seem that reducing the number of points in the route makes a difference.  Also, I tried with a route I'd created on plotaroute.com.  The issue seems to be that, if you've downloaded the route as a GPX and then reupload it, the editing doesn't work...

I really like this site but am having a problem with one route I'm trying to create.

I uploaded a route so that I could edit it, but am getting an error.  It's an 88-mile long "A to B" bike ride that I want to amend to be a circular ride.  (Actually it's a sportive I'm going to be doing that goes relatively near my house, so I'd like to create a circular ride that allows me to practice part of the route.)  Anyway, whenever I try to move the start or end point, I get a pop-up saying "Sorry - we were unable to auto-plot to this point".

There are 2,636 trackpoints in the route.  Is that too many for the site to handle?  Or is there some other problem?  (You can download the orignal route from https://www.mapmytracks.com/events/dulux-trade-london-revolution/race/day-23.)

    Thanks
