    Hi,

I earlier on had a route made up automatically, but then noticed that part of it weren't suitable for cycling as it's on a dangerous section on the road and i'd much rather detour the route and rejoin it futher on down the route it made.

I've watched several of the tutorials and with trying myself but it seems to now allow me to do what I want it to do(I just want to edit one part of the route and click along roads to rejoin the course and save it.

    Can anyone help me?

One thing it appears to not be letting me do which is frustrating me is to stretch the marker so that it will re calculate a route as show in the video tutorials, why is this happening? I'm happy with the route it's automatically created, but I just want to edit part of it by either using the 2 points and stretching the route to fit an alternative re route, or by clicking on point of my own to join the route up like what Strava route builder does!!

Hi Michael - It's hard to answer this without being there to see exactly what you're doing.  The Editing Routes tutorial should explain how to edit a section in the middle of the route.

If you want to replot a section in the middle of the route it is best to use the "Replot Section" feature for this under the Plot menu.  Make sure the Drag Mode switch is set to "Off" an the Auto-Plot switch is set to "By-Road" or "By-Bike" before you start.  Then click on the start and end of the section of the route you want to replot - the original route between these points shoulkd then be shaded out and a yellow and blue dashed line should appear with a draggable circle in the middle.  Drag this circle to the mid-point of the new route that you want to take between the two selected points and it should replot a path via this waypoint.  You can then refine the replotted section furthr by dragging any point along the amended path.  It works best if you always drag the mid-point of the section you want to change to the mid-point of the alternate path.

    Hope this helps.

John - How do I move the screen around so I can see the route when it runs off the edge? Some times the up, down, left, and right keys work; some times the cursor will drag the screen around.

I had a beautiful ride plotted and needed to move the screen to check it, and when I clicked on the screen, my route jumped up to the point where I clicked and I can't  delete that part that was added.

    (1) How do I move the screen w/o ruining the route?

    (2) How do I get rid of the unwanted extra route? I try the delete mode, I get the little colored circles, I hit delete, it does not delete, it replaces the unwanted route section with a straight line between the two little colored circles.

I've spent two days trying to work this out. Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi Stan,

You need to hold the left mouse button down to drag the map rather than click on it. It might also help to zoom out but clicking the zoom buttons in the top left corner. If you accidentally click instead of dragging and end up with extra points plotted, you can remove these by just clicking undo in the panel on the bottom right corner of the map.

    Charlotte, thanks for quick response.

When I hold down left mouse button and try to move the map, nothing happens. I am using iOS 10.11.6 on iMac G5.

I see Directions, and several other commands in the stack in the lower right hand corner, but do not see Undo.

    Stan,

It's very hard to tell from here what the issue is, but I suggest trying in a different browser or computer. The Undo button won't be shown unless you're editing a route and have just plotted something.

Thanks, Charlotte, I understand the undo button a little better now.

It does not delete! I click on the Tools button / Gadget, go to delete, click to get rid of the message telling me how to delete, click on the start of the section I want to delete, then click on the end of the section I want to delete, then click on the Delete button underneath my name and next to cancel and....nothing, literally nothing, not a thing is deleted. This is on Chrome on Windows 10. I've watched videos and tutorials but cannot get to grips with this. Is it a browser issue?

Hi Mark - thanks for flagging this up. It looks like a bug has crept in with the Delete Section tool in one of the recent updates. We'll investigate and get that fixed asap. In the meantime, you can use the Reshape Route tool to achieve the same thing.

We've found the bug with the Delete Section tool and have put in a fix, so this should be working OK now.
