I think it was better to leave the turn notifications to the unit- When i first got onto plotaroute i was so excited at being able to generate my turn notification warning distances that i chose 180m. The result was that at 180m the turn notification came up but it also meant that if i was looking at a turn that is 180m away - what if there were additional turns within the 180m and i missed it because my 180m warning came up first.....so i know download my routes without any turn warnings and depend on the Garmin to manage the TBT notifications.
It sounds like your GPS device is being a bit tempermental if the top arrow re-appears after your power it off and of. I can't think of anything in the route file that would cause some of the device navigation features to be displayed and not others - it sounds more like a device setting. I'm happy to have a san through some sample files thouhg if you can send me one from plotaroute that doesn't display the top arrow and one from another application that does. I'm email you directly with an address to send the files to.
i think it's a bug. it comes back if I restart my device.
another question, that white arrow doesn't show up if i'm using plotaroute. with gpsies and rwgps, it will show.
Hi Andrew - Under Course Options have you enabled Turn Guidance?
I am using Garmin Edge 520. I created a route and export it in tcx format(with turn notification at 100m).
If you refer to the screenshot below(from other source), i only get the notification below, not on top.
So, how go i get the big big arrow notification? Thanks.
