We've just implemented some changes to reduce the superflouous directions generated when you plot a route. We are now only adding directions where some form of maneuver is required.  Thanks again for the feedback on this.

Thanks for the additional feedback Richard.  I can understand the issue - it'll need a bit of investigation to see what we can do but I'll post back here if we can work out some way to discarding superflous directions without discarding directions that are essential.

I think if you did that then it would also delete instructions that are to go straight eg. at a crossroads.  (Unless you included a 'straight' arrow in the turns list).  Hence you would want to keep all the directions that start 'Continue.....'.

The directions referred to are superflouous are ones that are not relating to a turn or go straight direction.  These are ones that seem to be inserted so that mid way along a road you get a confirmation style message that says eg.  'Head east along .....'.  These serve no directional function other than giving a massage to pop up saying essentially that you are on the right track.  When cycling, these are distracting and confusing as there is no junction they are referring to.  Also for garmin devices with limited waypoints, these unnecessary messages effectively double the waypoints for a route, and so can easily take you over.

Currently i manually go through the directions and i delete all of those starting 'head .....' but that is obviously timeconsuming.

Thanks for this suggestion Richard.  I'm not sure if there is a way for us to automatically determine which directions are most useful but we can look into it.  Perhaps one option would be to provide a "Delete All Non-Turns" button that would allow you to easily delete all directions from the list that don't have a turn arrow?

Currently even a short ride route gives a lot of direction waypoints that are not necessary.  As GPS devices are limited as to the number they can accept (100 or 200) then it is easy to go over.

The auto direction currently adds in repeater directions that tend to start with 'Head .....' which are really just there as confirmations rather than actual directions.  Whilst i can see in some uses this would be helpful, for simple bike route turn prompts they are not necessay and count toward the turn point devide limit.

I therefore currently go through and manually delete all these confirm points.  It would be good though if there could be a option that allowed for these to be optional ie. directions limited to turns and junction information.
