    Dear John,

    Thanks for the updates.

I've been away for a week or so and enjoyed using Plotaroute in Southern Spain to explore some of the off-road tracks.  Spanish paper maps do not seem to go in for the same detail as in the UK (perhaps I just did not know where or what to look for) but Plotaroute stepped in and enabled me to find my way around.

Now I'm back, I've checked through the issues I raised and all seem to be working as expected now.  Thank you.

I do still wonder if having the directions pane horizontally across the bottom of the screen for BOTH viewing and plotting modes would be better than having the directions squeezed into a long narrow strip at the side. The map is similarly squeezed and quite difficult to work with... especially for an east west route.  (This only applies to the smartphone platform.)  I guess this depands to some extent on the aspect ratio of the particular phone but there seems to be a trend towards tall and thin.

There is also the question of what should happen when someone rotates their phone from portrait to landscape.  In plotting mode, I've noticed that if I have directions displayed in portrait mode and rotate to landscape, the directions fill almost the whole screen with only a few mm of map still showing.  (If I had a choice, I would have the directions at the bottom in portrait and down the side in landscape for both plotting and viewing... but I guess there is no way to detect which way round the device is being held!)

Just a final note that, in plotting mode, the call out box for a selected direction disappears off the edge of the screen (in the same way it did in viewing mode.)

    Best regards,

    Martyn

I think we've managed to iron out most of these now Martyn.  Thanks again for flagging them up.

Thanks for all this feedbadk Martyn.  I'll put these on the list to look at - hopefully we can sort most of them out.

    Hi John,

Our local Camping Barn has just posted links to a couple of walks on its website.  Checking this out has made me aware of some irregualrites with the mobile format.  You will find the links on this page:

    http://www.puttenhamcampingbarn.co.uk/getting_here.html

    1) Although I specified 'Paths' when creating the links, the 'ordinary' base map is shown when accessing via a smartphone.  (The 'Paths' base map shows correctly in the desktop view.)

    2) When the 'Directions' are enabled from the menu, those for the 'Godalming' route (365296) are cut off down the right hand side while those for the Farncombe route (405130) display properly. (Bizzar!)

    3) Problem 2 happens on both mobile and desktop views but is particularly noticable on the mobile view which is tall and thin.  I note that in edit mode on mobile, the directions appear in a horizontal pane at the bottom which may be a better format for viewing routes on mobile too.

    4) Tapping a direction brings it up in a call-out on the map which is excellent.  However, the call-out is so wide, it disappears off the side of the screen.  And if it is not high enough to contain all of the text, it needs to be scrolled to read it all (fiddley!)  Also, having scrolled one direction, the next one to be selected, appears scrolled as well, i.e., displaying the end of the direction text rather than its start.

    5) The menu option 'Route Info' leaves out the 'About' details which contain important information for these routes.  I know this information is shown at the bottom of the View Route screen but this is easy to overlook because it is off the bottom of the screen.

    Best regards,

    Martyn
