    Hi

Road cyclist here,  was using the hilliness view with the green neutral and red. Struck me as too sensitive, the route gets very noisy and the extended climbs disappear.

I understand some threshold might be at work, I don't imagine that can be varied, no? Probably automatic based on maps underlying gradient.

I thought a work around would be to grab my three or four extended climbs as seperate routes and then put in as a collection. ANy other ideas wlecome, cheers.

    Hi Adam,

The hilliness colours are generated automatically from the gradient of each 90m segment of the route (or longer intervals if this results in over 1000 segments). Red sections are uphill, green are downhill. Darker shades indicate steeper gradients. Flat sections, where the gradient is less than 2%, are shown in your default colour. There isn't any way for you to alter the settings for this I'm afraid. We could possibly look at increasing the 2% threshold so that fewer inclines are highlighted.

    Hi John

Many thanks for your answer. 90m? That's not too bad .. looked a good deal less to me on first glance.

OK I'll have a proper look then.

Maybe my use case is a little extreme anyhow, it's very much a road cyclist view that your second priority on a route (the first being not taking wrong turns!) is to store up energy for the extended climbs so I suppose I was looking for a way to annotate that .. perhaps a little ambitious.

I wouldn't like to change the universal 2% threshold just for my case though, working on the collections view may solve the problem anyhow.

    Thanks and cheers.

sorry, wrong word "problem", by no means a bug sorry. I meant "customisation". Cheers.

I like the Hillines display feature. I'd like to be able to print it, but when I print the hilliness is not shown, only my default colour. I have a free account. Perhaps printing hilliness (coloured) path vs terrain provile printed at the bottom, is a paid feature?

Sorry Joe, this isn't one of the Premium membership features. It may be somehting we can look at adding at some point. You can see the differences between Standard and Premium membership on our Membership Options page.
