    Makes sence with the signal bouncing off the Earth's surface. I just thought the hill leading to the bridge would also be visible, since the signal should bounce off this hill.

    But it is not a big issue, so I accept that it is not possible to do about it :)

    Hi Simon - I'm glad you like the site and are finding it useful.  We use elevation data collected from Nasa space missions, which is generated by bouncing signals off the Earth's surface.  The dataset covers the entire planet, so as you can imagine it is quite large and cannot cover every feature in detail. This does mean that small features like raised bridges may sometimes appear as part of the surrounding landscape in the elevation model. I'm afraid there isn't anything we can do to overcome this.

    Hello,

    Just discovered this page, and what a brilliant tool to plan routes! 

    But I just tried to create a route myself, and noticed that the elevation was not correct.

    It seems like the tool only use natural elevations, and is not able to "see" elevations on bridges?
