Make me a RouteFORUMS HOME SEARCH FORUMS

Not a bug, maybe a problem, though!

Been using "Make me a Route" (what a wonderful tool!), selecting Cycling. In the Advanced section, one can choose Any or Paved for Terrain (the latter says "Only use paved roads or paths").

However, I fear the control is not fine enough .... a normal plotted route allows road and/or bike-friendly paths, but this is not available when using "Make me a Route". I have found myself editing the chosen route to avoid a number of paths that are not really suitable.

I appreciate the complexity of auto-routing and how hard it must be to implement. What I'm suggesting is maybe adding more control that is normally available to route plotting into the "Make me a Route".

There isn't a simple solution for that unfortunately Mark. We use a different routing service for the advanced version of the Make Me a Route feature, as the one use for normal route planning doesn't have all the features we need.  Also, the process for generating the routes is very different and likely to be more affected by any innacurate tagging of path surfaces on the OSM database.
