    Hi,

In the feature request, there is a request to highlight the café's on the map.

Instead of just highlighting 1 type of POI, it would be usefull to select a POI-type to highlight.

    For example.

I am importing long cycling routes and would like to split this in multiple day trips.

To do this I try to split this in equal parts based on the available campsites or hotels along the route.

As campsites are only visible at high zoom-levels, it is a lot of work to search them and try to split the route in equal parts.

It would be really usefull to select a certain type of POI to be visible at lower zoom-levels.

    Kind regards,

    Davy Van Peteghem

    Hi Davy,

Thanks for this suggestion, I can see how this would be helpful. We've updated the Feature Request you referred to so that it now covers a range of POI's. It mainly comes down to whether a global dataset is available for this data and how much this would cost to set up.

    Hi,

I do not know how the POI's within OSM work, but isn't it possible to show a certain poi-subset from a lower zoom-level, or are the zoom-levels within OSM automatically configured?

If it would be possible to show the OSM POI's, there would be no need for an external dataset.

To be clear ... I know almost nothing about website and OSM programming :-)

There isn't that level of flexibility unfortunately - the map tiles are static images that are pre-rendered, so can't be changed on the fly.

    Hi John,

I would go further. Sometimes, the available map tiles sometimes do not  show the POIs we find in other sites. For example fountains, shelters, cabbins ...

I think it would be nice if we could have a personal (?) layer in which we could upload a list of POIs, format and POI types would be those you define. This layer may appear on top of the map tiles and be used as an indication.

Best regards and please, continue doing a good job.

Thanks for that suggestion José. We've added it to our Feature Requests list where people can vote for it (number 109).

Some other route-plotting websites have the facility to search not only for place names / addresses / post codes, but for business names (e.g. 'Squirrel Cafe' or whatever).

I guess this uses Google maps, as it's possible to see individual businesses (cafes, garages etc) when zoomed in on a particular map layer and to drop the 'Google man' onto the map to enable Google Street View.

I've recently subscribed to PlotaRoute 'Premium' but still have to revert to Google maps or other route-plotting websites for this feature.  It'd be great if it could be incorporated into PlotaRoute.

Thanks for the feedback Neil. Unfortunately Google will only allow its search facility to be used together with Google maps, so this isn't an option for us. However, it looks like we may be able to extend our current map search tool to include businesses and other Points of Interest, such as cafés, so we'll look into this.
