Newbie problems. I have just acquired a new Wahoo Bolt,so not only am I new to plotaroute, I’m new to The Bolt.  apologies......

I have created and downloaded a simple route and tried to transfer the file to the Bolt using the site instructions. Unfortunately when the file is exported in FIT format I get a ‘Import failed: bad GPX/TCX file’  message. When I do the same but save as a TCX file it works and i can transfer it via the mobile to the Bolt. I was using these formats so as to get the early warning on the turn by turn directions.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?  Still plenty of time to plan the trip to Ireland!!!!!

It's hard to know without more information on why the file is being rejected by Wahoo. However, you can still use the turn warning features with TCX.

Thank you admin.  If you have time to try it out, the Route ID is 1030223 - I would be keen to see if the problem is at my end!

That route worked OK for me Jim, downloading in FIT format onto an iPhone and opening in the Wahoo ELEMNT app.

Thank you so much for doing that.  The problem must be at my end!  I'm using an Android phone which shouldn't be an issue but.........  I've tried downloading on the phone as a fit file and downloading on the PC as a fit file and emailing it to the phone, neither of which were successful.  Again, and only if you have time, could you post or email the fit file so I can run a test it with one that I know should work

You'll get the same file as us here if you you use the same download settings: FIT, Virtual Partner Not Set, Shift Directions 0m, Warn 0m Before Turns, no limit on coursepoints to download - this worked for us.

Any solution on this. I am getting exactly the same problem on Android 9.

If you're having problems importing to Wahoo I'm afraid you'd really need to contact Wahoo for help as we have no way of us knowing why their import is failing.

This is still an issue. If must be an Android problem. Plot-a-route please could you investigate using an android phone and not an ihpone.

We'll do some further investigations on different platforms and report back. It would be worth you contacting Wahoo though, as the problem you're having is importing to their app rather than exporting from ours.

We raised this issue with Wahoo, but it will probably help if others raise a support ticket with Wahoo too. GPX imports seem to work OK on the Android version of the Wahoo app but FIT imports currently fail on both Android and iPhone with the latest versions of the app and firmware.

We have received the following feedback from Wahoo regarding problems importing FIT files to the ELEMNT app:

"The ability to import .fit files into the Android version of the ELEMNT app is not yet operational. It's something that we recently introduced unofficially into the iOS ELEMNT app, but are yet to do so for the Android app."

In the light of this information we have modified our How-To Guide for Downloading Routes to Wahoo Devices to recommend using the GPX format for now, as this format is supported on both the iOS and Android version of the ELMNT app.
