I've been watching this forum for a while to see if any action on a direct sync of plotaroute routes with Hammerhead Karoo routes. I'm still hoping that this happens:)

However, I just stumbled across something that might be a useful stopgap/hack:

If you link your plotaroute app (premier edition) to a Suunto account, and then your Suunto account to your Hammerhead account, you can transfer routes to your Karoo. Note you need to use the "Send route to Suunto" operation to initiate the transfer. If you make a change to the route, you'll again need to "Send route..." to get the change(s) to show up, but this is easier than re-downloading and re-importing. You don't need Suunto hardware (watch)  to get a Suunto account, but you do probably need to install the Suunto app on your phone ( at the very least, to create the account).

    Hope this helps others:)

    Thanks for your fast response!

I am used to a Garmin - star a route and it appears on your device. Simple.

The method of 'Copy & Paste' or 'Route Grab' doesn't really appeal as i want to move routes from PaR to Karoo not not from Strava/Komoot etc to Karoo.

However, i was disappointed to learn that i would have to start downloading files via a laptop and uploading them onto the Karoo Dashboard.

But... After picking up my iPhone i soon realised i could open my PaR shortcut in Safari and download a route to the iCloud/Phone. Then upload it into the Karoo Dashboard via their shortcut in Safari. Job Done!

So it is not as big an issue as i first thought! I have voted it up though...

    Regards,

    Chris.

It seems that grabbing routes from a third party is done through a browser extension and  a connected account. Currently a few "route builders" seem to be linked.

    Hi Chris,

This is  on our Feature Requests list (number 104), but hasn't had many votes yet. Also, I don't think Hammerhead have an API that we could use. They posted the following recently on a Hammerhead forum:

"We certainly do plan to share public the API for the Karoo. However, this would be done at a much later stage in our product pipeline."

Your other suggestion of a link to download a file wouldn't really be feasible given our set up, as there are lots of settings to choose from when downloading a route to a file.  You can get a direct link to the download options though in the following format, where the number 1 is replaced with the route ID:

    https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1?init=download

Hi, I've just got my hands on a Karoo 2 and was surprised to find that i couldn't even import a route via the web url.

Unless i'm mistaken, i have to download the file and then upload it on the Hammerhead website.

As the Karoo computers become popular is there any chance of another look at this? Even just getting the web url to work would be an improvement!

    Thanks.

    Chris.

Hi Peder - thanks for the suggestion. It's not something we've looked into, so I don't know how feasible this is or what take up there would be for it. I've added it to our Feature Requests list though (number 104) where people can vote for it.
