With the Hills profile visible below a route or in the More Detailed Profile screen, you can move the mouse pointer along the route and see the elevation at that point and the distance from the start of the route.

It would be useful for route planning (as a cyclist or walker) to also know the total cumulative ascent from the start of the route at each point on the route as you move the pointer, rather than just the total ascent for the whole route and the elevation at each point. When planning longer cycling routes, one of the factors in deciding how long to make the route for a day is how much ascent in total will be involved. 50 miles with about 2,000 feet total ascent (North Eastern France) is a totally different proposition to 50 miles with 11,000 feet total ascent (Southern Switzerland) for example! :-)

Thanks for this suggestion. We'll see if we can add this in at some point. In the meantime, you can actually get the cumulative ascent to any point on the route by using the section selector above the chart to select the part of the route you're interested in.

    Hi,

it would be helpfull too if, for example, we could enable in the directions tab, the climbing between two consecutive waypoints.

This way, when exporting the directions tab to an external tool like Excel, we would have in the same road map :

    - the distance between waypoints

    - the ETA to the next waypoints when uing the timer

    - and the climbing

The section selector il very helpful to estimate the cumulative ascent of sections (and more), but being able to export a road map with distance, eta, climbing would be really great.

    Best regards

    Jose

    Hi,

Maybe there is an easy way to achieve this from the Route Profile tool. The "Data" button shows the altitude of some points with the distance from origin. I don't know what this points are related to.

The directions appear among those points.  If as well as the altitude and distance, we could have the notes of the directions and the  D+ and D- from previous point, we could easily create a tab to provide this functionality.

If we want to add the ETAs, it should not be very complex to mix the two tabs into one using the distance or the waypoint information

    hope this helps.

    Jose
