Map search for caféWe're pleased to announce an upgrade to our Map Search Tool, which you can use to locate places on the map when planning a route.

As well as searching for addresses you can now search for Points of Interest (POI's), such as cafés, car parks, campsites, tourist attractions, pubs, businesses, accommodation, train stations, bus stations and many more, giving you access to a rich global dataset of over half a billion places and addresses.

You can either search for a specific POI that you're interested in, for example Buckingham Palace, or a type of POI such as a café or even a particular chain. Icons will be displayed on the map showing the locations of the search results, with the full name and address available if you need it.

The Map Search Tool now supports the following searches:

    • full address
    • postal / zip code
    • places - state, county, city, town, village
    • points of interest - businesses, landmarks, attractions, facilities, etc.
    • chains of businesses (e.g. Starbucks, Pizza Hut)
    • map coordinates (e.g. 51.506430,-0.127190)
    • Ordnance Survey grid references (e.g. TQ 28887 81593)

Having the option to display POI's on the map, such as cafés, has been one of our most popular feature requests, so we're particularly pleased that we can now offer this as a standard feature. We hope you find it useful when planning routes between different places you want to visit.
