Unfortunately there are both technical and commercial issues that make this harder than it seems, but this is already on our Feature Requests list (number 51), so anyone interested in this can add their vote for it there.

There is also already an option to automatically display the hill profile on emebedded routes - this option is available when you click SHARE to get the embedded map code.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

I don't know the technical details of the "route player" but wouldn't it be relatively easy to ad a few more options like map type or hills to be shown (or defaults for showing labels or not etc.).
    I'd really like that ;)

    Hi Lucus,

Thanks for the feedback. It is already possible to select the Units (km/miles) when sharing a route via a link or embedding it - there is an option for this when you select SHARE. I'm afraid it's not currently possible to pre-select the Map Type though.

    Hi,

when sharing routes via an url or by iframe on another website it would be really great to have control over a few settings - e. g. switching the units to metrical system when sharing a route to people in a country using metrical system. But as well it would be nice to set the map type (cycling map for a cycling route perhaps) or whether the elevation profile os shown by default or not.

Especially when sharing a route to people not knowing plotaroute this would be helpful as they will perhaps not find the elevation profile immediatly or they could get confues about km-markers when they are in miles and they don't notice. Even though all this can be found easily in plotaroutes user interface, today people are sometimes very fast and care less and less for details...

So, is it possible to take control over these things perhaps by using html parameters in links I share with others?
