Hi Natasha - the following How-To Guide explains how to do this: https://www.plotaroute.com/tip/37/how-to-correct-map-errors

There is a little path in one of my local parks which doesn't show on plot a route. Is there a way of updating it?

OK, as long as it takes OSM as a source that's great news! I don't mind it taking time as in most cases I don't do the edits for myself but to help future pedestrians/runners/cyclists find new routes.

Hi Michael - our OSM based maps are updated continuously on a drip-feed, so changes made on OSM will appear on plotaroute as soon as any map tiles cached by your browser expire - this should be within 3-4 days. The routing updates are more complicated, as updating the routing graphs is a very lengthy process, so this is currently only done once a month.

Forgive me for hi-jacking this thread but I have added trails to OSM in the past and they indeed show up on plotaroute.com later. However, the autorouter does not seem to be using them, i.e. they are ignored when plotting. Is this because the plotter is using a different data source?

    Hi Jordan,

Thanks, glad you like the site and are finding it useful.

Yes, it is possible to contribute to the maps that are based on OpenStreetMap data.  You'll need to sign up for a free account with OpenStreetMap and you can then use their online editor to add missing features, like footpaths. There are options to upload these from GPS traces or you can manually trace them on the map. Any changes you make should flow through to plotaroute in a a few days. See this link for more details: How to Contribute to OpenStreetMaps. There are also some YouTube videos online that demonstrate how to use the OSM map editor, so you might find these helpful too.

First, thank you for this awesome site. Super easy to use with lots of useful tools!

Forgive me if the info is easily available, I didn't come up with anything when searching the forums. How can trails/info be added to the map? I'd be happy to help if there's something I can do to assist. Thanks!
