Popular Routes
Hi there,
I am having real trouble getting my routes to transfer to my Garmin.
Ever since I've been using Plotaroute, so go, some dont and its getting to the point of being unusable.
HELP
Can someone please explain why this isnt working and how to force a sync of route?
I have been using the 'star' option ... black = to be sync'd .... blue = synced .....
excep[t that doesnt work or isnmt accurate. I have a number of blue starred routes which are not on my Garmin.
Any help, gratefully recieved.
Hi Graham,
I'm sorry to hear about this issue.
I've looked at your account and see that you set up the link to Garmin again.Has this solved the issue since?
If not, could you tell me which starred routes aren't getting sent to Garmin?I'll see if I can find any reason for this.
Kind regards,Julien
Graham, pick a totally new, obvious route. Star is (should go blue). Then check your Garmin Connect account to make sure it's there. I believe it syncs to your Garmin device via Connect, so check that part is working first. When working normally, blue synced routes appear on my Garmin device. If then deleted from the device, they stay blue in PR, it's a one-way system. Just for interest.
Thanks for the comments. Ive re-linked my Garmin, rebooted everything, & it now seems to be working.
fingers crossed.
Thanks, Graham. Happy to hear that it seems to work again. :)
Thanks for the additional information, Mark!
I did those things, the Plotaroute - Garmin link is STILL NOT WORKING.
So, it's still not working for me. Removed the link to Garmin, set it up again, and now all my starred routes are grey. I know that plotaroute is being killed off, such a shame as it was good and I've been paying for it for years. Time to move to something else I guess if anyone has good suggestions for a site that actually syncs with Garmin?
My Garmin LInk is not working.
Normally star the new route and it automatically downloads to Garmin. Always worked well, now it has stopped.
I deleted the connection and rejoined, still not working.
Is there a problem at your end or is there something I need to do.
Please help.
This potentially will force a move to RWGPS which I really don't want!
I have also discovered I can now only download routes on my PC/ web.
I will normally do 'everything' on iPad and phone so this is inconvenient and when I am away on long distance tour would cause me serious hassle.
No such problems with RWGPS......
There seems to be an absence of reaction by admin to previous alerts regarding these major problems. Please ???
I guess they really do want everyone to move over to visorando with its worse interface, lack of garmin connection, and generally less functionality, so they are slowly doing everything they can to kill of plotaroute. I know I won't bother renweing my premium subscription when it comes round again...
Yes - I am beginning to 'toy' with RWGPS. I have subscribed to Plot a Route as a paying guest for 10 years.
Viserando holds no appeal - and the home page is all about WALKING!
Hi everyone,
I'm very sorry for the late reply.
The devs are aware of this issue and are looking into it right now.I’ll be sure to update you on this topic as soon as I receive any news from them.
Thank you all for your patience.
In the meantime, you can either create a route in the Garmin Connect app (bit rubbish as it uses Google maps which doesn't highlight/recognise footpaths), do the same in Garmin Connect web version but change map type to OpenStreetMap to see paths as well as roads, or continue using plotaroute and download the route as a .gpx file and then import to Courses in Connect web version.
Is it official that they are planning to stop plotaroute? Is there a date for it to finish?
I use it as it's the only one I could find that allows you to join segments together & trace routes.
I just updated this topic.Garmin sync should be working again!
The devs confirmed the link between the security measures added after the recent bot crawling attacks and the Garmin issue.
Thanks again for your patience.
All the best,Julien
Regarding your question about the future of Plotaroute, you can find the most up-to-date information on this topic.
TLDR: "Our goal is not to abandon Plotaroute, but rather to explore how the best features from each platform can enhance the overall experience for all users."
Hi Julien,
Good to see the issue fixed.
w.r.t. the future of plotaroute perhaps updating the announcement on the home page which currently states "that there will be no further developments on the Plotaroute website" which when combined with taking over a month to address bugs in major premium features that users are paying for and you will see why it feels like it is being abandond.
Hi Sam,
Thanks for bringing this up.
I hadn't thought about the "Latest News" on the homepage, which is indeed outdated. This was addressed in the messages of this topic, but the article on the homepage remains.
I'll send this to the team right away.
