This route is not ideal for bad weather, when the farmers have been out, as it gets mucky & or floods in in couple of places. Fab in the summer of course.
I think this is my ultimate favourite flat-ish local route for several reasons.
It’s easy, although a little effort up to Carden Park at the start. It’s a lovely ride around my favourite local lanes and flat most of the time, with only a couple of inclines. Deliberately easy route, some of which makes up my toughest ride, on my ‘Beast route’’.
This route also has my absolute favourite stretch from Tilston road, over to Bickerton, only discovered it recently, although this route misses out the 2 nd half, which is left turn before we cross A41 ( just to get a couple of more miles in) There is one very short steep-ish lane that is a bit mucky & rough in the best of conditions, so not good in bad weather. It’s the little chink at 19 Miles, takes us up to Hampton post ( house with the pod)

This route is designed for meeting F&E hence, to bottom of Wetreins lane, but also to meet Paula walking to Alison’s. Therefore I can carry on after Alison’s with F&E around to Bumpers lane & home to coincide with Paula getting home. Or I can extend a little further to Wetreins lane & home. So a perfect route for everybody and a fair few of the lanes and scenary. This route can be good for bad weather ( just avoid CP & go via Manorwood.& take Duckington lane to Duckington and cut out the loop via Hampton Heath. It's a lovely lane that I have never known to be mucky. It shortens the route by 2 miles.

I also have it as a Garmin route (007MG2 Alison’s) but adds in the Pheasent Inn via little Hart loop, which means we can stop at Poffee’s cafe as an option as well & only adds a mile, but some good short hills & makes the route 2000ft and not so flat. There are a couple of other minor changes.
This route deliberately avoids a very narrow and often very mucky lane (Hampton house lane) that takes up to what I like to call the 'Pod house' hence, the need to cross the A 41 & into no Man's heath. If I am on my own then I don't mind this lane as crossing the A41 is more of an issue. point is This route is really for bad weather to avoid that nasty lane.

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
