This one is aimed at stiff southerly winds and it is on lovely lanes, in fact the best Small lanes in the area. Been tweaked to avoid the crappy ones, like the bad stretch up to Shotlach, after Worthenbury hence, the route stays on B road for 1.2 miles.b However, there is one short lane that is always full of debris ( real narrow farm lane called Mulsforth lane, but a lovely one, after 16 miles.
Therefore means In winter or after lot of rain, it’s best to avoid the bottom 5 mile loop. This means adding on a few miles at the top of the route on the way home by turning off to Old Ma’s cafe and past the ice cream farm around to Tattenhall. These are all superb clean roads nd still suits the SW winds.
This route also provides a lovely fast stretch for 10 miles with the wind of course, whilst also providing great headwind cover going south, for the most part.
There really is a lot of favourite bits in this route, especially heading out, in particular from 12 to 18 miles, which is where the route has been carefully tweaked to provide the best scenic lanes.
Cafe option for this route is Lewis’s in Farndon or Lyly’s at Aldford but that is 28 miles, ideal if cutting out the bottom loop of 5 miles.

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
